One of the aspects of this hobby that I enjoy outside of the actual modeling is researching industries and fallen flag railroads. It’s interesting to see how these companies helped shape the nation, and looking at the people behind it all.

With the Erie & Southern, one of my layout goals is to include some industries that don’t see a lot of modeling action, like stockyards and meat packing plants.

Check back often for future updates!

For those who have frequented the site, I’m happy to begin offering both RSS and email subscription options. Now you don’t need to check back and re-visit the page every day, having a free subscription will let you know when an update has been made!

I realize that model railroaders often aren’t always the most internet-savvy bunch of fellows, so please allow me to explain what all of this means.

Why are you asking for my subscription?

By subscribing, you don’t actually have to visit the site to get up-to-date information on what goes on here at the Erie & Southern Railroad. All the latest posts on what goes on here can be delivered straight to you via RSS or email.

Instead of bookmarking the site in your web browser and visiting each time you wanted to look for an update, now you can read updates when it’s convenient for you.

How much does it cost?

Absolutely nothing, it’s free. In addition, we do not have direct access to your email information or subscription details. All of that is handled by FeedBurner. We also do not send you junk email or sell your info to anyone else. You are subscribing only to updates on this site.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. You will need an RSS reader in order to view these “news feeds”. Google Reader and Bloglines are two very popular RSS readers, and they are free as well. An RSS reader allows you to get updates from all your favorite blogs in one place instead of clicking 15 bookmarks in your web browser for your favorite sites each day.

Subscribing via RSS is quick, easy, and doesn’t clutter up your inbox.

Sounds complicated. How about email?

If you’d rather have an email subscription, you can have basically the same thing sent right to your inbox. No spam, no cost to you, just updates from this site sent directly to your email address.

In the end, don’t think of this as a subscription. Think of it as an easy, free way to keep updated on what goes on around here…and that goes for other sites as well. For people like me who read upwards of 20 blogs each day, RSS is a great way to keep up to date, without having to click around the internet. Everything is sent to one place.
