The Yardmaster

I was introduced to model railroading at a very early age.  My grandfather had a large N scale layout in his basement, the result of many years’ work that was at one time prescribed to him as a way to keep his mind and hands busy.  As such, I grew up with a fondness for trains.

To some people, trains are an annoyance.  But for those of us who appreciate them, there is something almost magical about the sound, dirt, and power of moving freight across America.

My name is Anthony Hereld, and in addition to being a model railroader, I actively participate in related internet forums under the username 2-8-2.  I also enjoy taking trackside photographs of railroad operations and structures, both past and present.

The Erie & Southern Railroad is dedicated to my late grandfather, whose wisdom was far beyond my years.
